Brigid's feast day is the 1st of February, Imbolc in the ancient Celtic calendar. Imbolc is the mid-winter celebration held to herald the return of light and fertility as the Earth prepares to awaken from her winter hibernation.

In praise of the human voice

Papyrus in the park

Bill, Rob, Geri and I had a picnic in Footscray Park today. We chose a spot near this papyrus cluster in the lake. We had a happy, sunny time together.

November nasturtiums

Once, at a CAE tutor's party, I asked everyone to say what flower the'd like to be, and the reasons why. On that day, I declared 'nasturtiums' because they are both cheerful and hardy. The mass that returns at the back of our place each year testifies to their beauty and resilience. I took this photo yesterday afternoon.
