Brigid's feast day is the 1st of February, Imbolc in the ancient Celtic calendar. Imbolc is the mid-winter celebration held to herald the return of light and fertility as the Earth prepares to awaken from her winter hibernation.

Coloured sands

This is my favourite image from WOMAD 2006,

the sands used by the Tibetan monks for their sand mandala.
