Trial 5

Will this fifth attempt sent from my e-mail arrive?

As explained earlier, there was a LONG delay between the sending and the arriving of this e-mail posting. Was it 5 days? I wonder if this length of time is normal or abnormal.

Trial 3

I am trying to send a post to my Biddyjournal by e-mail.

Hooray, it has arrived today, even if several days after its despatch!

Judith Wright speaks

THE FLAME TREE

How to live, I said, as the flame-tree lives?

To know what the flame-tree knows – to be

Prodigal of my life as that wild tree

And wear my passion so?

That lover’s knot of water and earth and sun,

That easy answer to the question baffling reason,

Branches out of my heart, this sudden season.

I know what I would know.

How shall I thank you, who teach me how to wait

In quietness for the hour to ask or give:

To take and in taking bestow, in bestowing live:

In the loss of myself, to find?

This is the flame-tree; look how gloriously

That careless blossom scatters, and more, and more.

What the earth takes of her, it will restore.

These are the thanks of lovers who share one mind.

JUDITH WRIGHT

Bronte beauty

I’ve dreamt in my life dreams that have stayed with me ever after,
and changed my ideas;
they’ve gone through and through me,
like wine through water,
and altered the colour of my mind.

Emily Bronte, Wuthering Heights

Another experiment:

I posted both the Bronte quote and the Judith Wright poem directly here from Word.

A Celtic poem

...
A shade are you in the heat,
A shelter are you in the cold,
Eyes are you to the blind,
A staff are you to the pilgrim,
An island are you in the sea,
A fortress are you on land,
A well are you in the desert,
Health are you to the ailing.

Yours is the skill of the Fairy Woman,
Yours is the virtue of Brigit the serene,
Yours is the faith of Mary the gentle,
Yours is the tact of the women of Greece,
Yours is the loveliness of Emer the Beauty,
Yours is the tenderness of Darthula the delightful,
Yours is the courage of Maeve the battler,
Yours is the charm of the mouth of Melody.

You are the joy of all joyous things,
You are the light of the beam of the sun,
You are the door of the chief of hospitality,
You are the surpassing star of guidance,
You are the step of the deer on the hill,
You are the step of the steed on the strath,
You are the shape of the swan of swimming,
You are the grace of all lovely graces
